Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Mandapa descends through rice terraces and jungle toward the Ayung River outside Ubud, using the plan of a Balinese village to organise just 60 suites and pool villas. Jeffrey Wilkes’ interiors keep materials and ornament comparatively quiet, allowing water, stone, vegetation and the river valley to carry most of the resort’s sense of place.
